Falsterbo accommodation — in the village, near the beach

All five of our homes are in Falsterbo village — on Vårhaga Gränd and Oxgränd, quiet lanes just a short walk from the white sandy beach. You'll stay close to the sea, the golf course and the village shops, with free parking and the personal service of a local host.

What it's like to stay in Falsterbo

Falsterbo sits at the very south-western tip of Skåne, where the Baltic Sea meets the Öresund strait. The village is famous for its miles of sandy beach, its classic lighthouse and a relaxed summer atmosphere that has drawn Swedes for generations. Picturesque wooden houses and seaside hotels sit alongside the Nabben nature reserve, where birds stream across the peninsula every autumn. It's calm, child-friendly and car-free near the beach — yet only 30 minutes from Malmö and under an hour from Copenhagen.

Renting a cottage or house in Falsterbo

What gets rented out here is usually either a small guest cottage in someone's garden or an entire villa — proper apartments are rare in Falsterbo. Our five homes sit right across that range: two apartments, a guesthouse, a villa and a whole house, all in the village and all with free parking on the property.

The difference from a traditional Swedish summer cottage is mostly practical. You get a fully equipped kitchen, your own bathroom and a patio or balcony rather than an outhouse and cold water — the Coastal Flat also has a measured 261 Mbps, which is enough for a working day as easily as for a film in the evening. None of the homes accept pets, and that is worth knowing before you book.

Falsterbo, area by area

Falsterbo is small, but its parts differ enough that where you land matters. Here is how the village looks, measured from our houses on Vårhaga Gränd and Oxgränd.

Towards the lighthouse, the bird observatory and the golf courses

Follow Fyrvägen south and the houses run out after a few minutes. About a quarter of an hour on foot brings you to Falsterbo lighthouse and the bird observatory, and just beyond lies Nabben — the southern tip of the peninsula, where the Baltic meets the Öresund. Within five kilometres there are also three golf courses: Falsterbo GK, Flommens GK and Ljunghusens GK.

This end suits anyone who wants an early start — birdwatchers heading out to Ljungen before first light, golfers with an early tee time, morning swimmers. The drawback is that there is nowhere out here to shop or eat. All of that is back in the village, which is precisely why it is good to stay there and walk out.

This was just what we wanted ~ a quiet, peaceful break at the beach in a comfortable, inviting setting. The apartment was clean and cozy. The neighborhood was lovely. We loved the easy beach access. We did not have a car so it was nice to be close to two bus stops...though we ended up walking every where, to really enjoy the setting.

The village core — Vårhaga Gränd and Oxgränd

All five homes are here, in lanes that end in a garden rather than a through road. The sandy beach is a five- to ten-minute walk depending on the house: the Beach Loft is 550 metres from the water, the Guesthouse reaches the sand in about five minutes. A grocery store, café and bus stop are all within walking distance, so the car can stay put all week.

This is the choice for most people, and there is a flip side worth saying out loud — you are staying in the middle of somewhere that is also someone's home neighbourhood. It is a real village, not a resort, and that difference shows up both in the noise level and in how early everything closes.

We really enjoyed our stay at this apartment — it was perfect for four adults thanks to the two comfortable bedrooms. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the cookware we needed, which made meal prep easy and enjoyable. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxing and cozy vacation. The area is very quiet, and the beach is just a short walk away. There’s a small grocery store about 8 minutes on foot, and a larger one only 4 minutes away by car. We also loved the restaurant at the marina (Skanör Småbåtshamn) — definitely worth a visit!

North, towards Skanör

From Oxgränd the road runs north towards Skanör — a couple of kilometres between the two village centres, a comfortable half-hour walk or a few minutes by bike. Villa Falsterbo and the Guesthouse lie in that direction, closest to both the Horse Show grounds and the road towards Skanör harbour.

Stay here and you have Skanör's restaurants and square within reach without living in the middle of them. During the two weeks of the Horse Show in July, though, this is the liveliest part of Falsterbo — good if you came for the horses, less so if you came for the quiet.

We had a wonderful stay at Alexander's beautiful home! He is a great host and was always responsive and helpful — we enjoyed his list of recommendations very much. We stayed in Falsterbo for just over a week and it was the perfect escape from city life — our toddler really enjoyed visiting the nearby beaches and horse stables.
